GIF length, size, and number of frames
You can roughly calculate the number of frames by multiplying the length by the FPS. GIF reduces color per frame to a palette of up to 256 colors, which can result in grainy subtle color changes in the photo. Lowering the length, output size, and FPS will help reduce capacity.
| Settings | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 480px · 10FPS · 5 seconds | Silent GIF of about 50 frames |
| 320px · 5FPS | Smaller size and lower temporal resolution |
Frequently Asked Questions
Are all videos supported?
No. Even if the extension is the same, this browser may not be able to read it depending on the internal codec. If an error occurs, check the source code created with a supported codec or another browser.
Is it always smaller than the original?
No. It may be larger if the original is already heavily compressed or has high settings. GIFs are also often larger than short videos, so compare the resulting files.
