What changes if I change 1600×900 to 1200×900?
1600×900 is 16:9, 1200×900 is 4:3. Center crop excludes 200 pixels on each side of the original while maintaining the height. If your subject is on an edge, it may be cut off, so check the preview.
Add margin reduces the entire original to 1200×675. Fill the 225 pixels above and below the output height of 900. The center placement is calculated to be at each 112.5 pixel location and is displayed in the browser's pixel rendering. Both methods maintain the aspect ratio of the original scene and only fit the output canvas to 4:3.
Determine the ratio and output size and compare the two results
- Select PNG·JPEG·WebP still image.
- Select a ratio among 4:3, 16:9, 1:1, and 9:16 and enter the output width. Height is rounded to integer pixels.
- If the exact width and height are specified, change to Direct Specification and enter the two values.
- Compare the area of the subject left behind by center cropping and adding margins.
- Once you have the result you want, download it and check the pixel dimensions again.
The preview will scale down to fit the screen, but the save file will be at the pixel size you entered. Displays guidance when zoom results are included. Increasing the number of output pixels does not restore missing details. The rounded height may introduce a small error in the selected percentage.
Transparent margin and white background in JPEG
You can choose the margin color or turn on transparent margins. PNG·WebP can store transparent margins, but JPEG cannot store transparency, so it fills it with white. We do not apply quality numbers to PNGs. JPEG·WebP quality is a setting for comparison purposes only and does not represent a percentage of the original image quality.
This tool automatically positions relative to the center. Use a traditional photo editor to crop or add text by dragging directly to the desired location. GIF, animation, and metadata preservation are not supported.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are adding and increasing margin the same?
It's different. Adding white space maintains the proportions of the scene and fills in empty areas. This tool does not provide the ability to stretch the width and height by different scales.
Does it automatically meet SNS upload standards?
No. Proportion presets are geometric proportions. Please check and enter the current pixel, capacity, and format conditions of the service you wish to upload.
