The median summarizes post-level rates

A has 50/100 = 50%; B has 100/10000 = 1%. Moyoutil’s analysis code returns a median reaction rate of (1+50)/2 = 25.5%. For two values, the median is the average of the two middle values. This summary does not weight each post by its view count.

Formulas for fictional A and B: median 25.5% and pooled rate about 1.4851%

The pooled rate reflects view counts

Dividing 150 total likes by 10100 total views from the same two rows gives about 1.4851%. This equals the view-weighted mean of the post-level rates. In the weighted-mean formula, B’s weight is 100 times A’s. The pooled calculation below is a separate explanatory calculation; it is not a feature that replaces Moyoutil’s displayed median.

((50 + 100) / (100 + 10000) * 100).toFixed(4)
// "1.4851" percent

The median and pooled rate answer different questions. Match reaction fields and reporting periods, and use the same rows with calculable rates in both numerator and denominator. With zero or missing views, or missing mapped reaction values, this tool leaves the rate unavailable. Do not arbitrarily turn it into 0%.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the pooled rate an official engagement rate or unique-viewer percentage?

No. This example uses entered likes/views and does not claim to match a platform’s official metric. Neither summary guarantees the performance of your next post.
